What Happened?

Shares of website building platform Wix (NASDAQ:WIX) jumped 7.3% in the afternoon session after the company announced that Symphony by Wix integrated Link's wallet for agents, built by Stripe, allowing artificial intelligence (AI) agents to conduct payments on behalf of small businesses.

The Stripe Link integration enables Symphony AI agents to manage small business operations. AI agents are automated software programs designed to complete tasks independently. Through the integration, the agents can carry out financial activities, which include paying supplier invoices and ordering inventory when stock drops below threshold levels.

What Is The Market Telling Us

Wix’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 45 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The previous big move we wrote about was 20 days ago when the stock dropped 5.1% on the news that Gen Digital made a takeover approach for GoDaddy, a peer web services provider, putting pressure on stocks in the sector. Investors appeared to react cautiously to the prospect of consolidation among web services companies.

The Financial Times reported that deal dynamics grew more challenging after Gen Digital's stock fell 12% following its approach, a sign that investors questioned the acquirer's ability to complete a deal. StoneX, which reiterated its Buy rating on GoDaddy, described the prospective acquisition as speculative. The firm cited constraints on Gen Digital's balance sheet, including about $8 billion in net debt.

Net debt is a company's total borrowings minus its cash, and a high level can limit its ability to fund a large purchase. The search results did not report any company-specific news from Wix, so the decline appeared tied to the uncertainty around the sector deal.

Wix is down 21.2% since the beginning of the year, and at $79.55 per share, it is trading 45.3% below its 52-week high of $145.54 from October 2025. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Wix’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at only $420.35.
